What Should I know about Traveling Alone?
love to jump (meg) asked:
I am 14 years old and I am considering flying alone to Orlando FL this summer on either AirTran, Southwest, or JetBlue. What should I know about traveling alone? Am i still considered a “unacompanied minor”?
Any information on this subject would be great!

I Would Say… Get A Non-Stop Flight!
If you fly Southwest, you are considered an adult on your 12th birthday.
Even though only ticketed passengers are allowed past security checkpoint, you (as someone under 18) can bring someone with you to the gate; you just have to get a pass from the ticket counter. Same as when you arrive in Orlando, whoever is picking you up can go to the ticket counter and get a pass to meet your flight. One person only!
Southwest does not offer any “paid assistance” for minors, but agents are more than happy to help you find your next gate (if you’re on a connecting flight).
