Hey, I totally agree with you! Most people, I think, don’t want to admit the struggles and the horror side of travel…OR there just isn’t any because they went on a package tour….for me, that’s not the case. Backpacking around the world in some of the sketchiest countries with my family is BOUND to make an interesting story and that’s what I plan to do if I ever get my **** in gear and start writing.
What a nice video, really creative, 5*
Enjoyed the way this book was written. A real interesting read. I especially enjoyed the chapter on the life among Expats. and the “Shiftless, debauched, tedious and Necessary Existence of Americans Abroad”. It’s something that I’m striving to become part of as the USA slips into uncertainty.
Another recent travel book with the same frank talk that I can recommend is Adventures of a Continental Drifter by Elliott Hester, a great book.
I can’t say enough about the book though. I have worked in the tourism industry (museums) and have travelled quite enough. Not only are his observations bang on, but the way he says it is like meringue melting in your mouth and leaving plenty of crumbs on your shirt! I must review the book on my FaceBook! Love you ChucK!
I won your book! I was a member of the studio audience of The Hour and they would warm-up the crowd between taping bits with questions and giveaways and stuff. They had asked about the worst way to die, earlier, and now they were asking about the best way… I was mumping up and down as the answers were very apealing to me. “Being eaten by a zombie”, of course, “as you would eventually become one of them and have fun chasing people.”
to quote Oscar Wilde “I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train.” good luck with the book.
