If you want to the magnificient Rockies in the dark…travel VIA rail. If you want to actually SEE them…travel on the Rocky Mountaineer.
Sounds good. Thanks for writing!

Mine Slideshow way Better Simple no spinning this one sucks
I think we agree with aliciawaters below: both VIA and Rocky are exceptional, but each serves a different function. It may be that Rocky is very expensive, but it’s not an every day event, whereas VIA may well be.
Thanks to getchasumm and aliciawaters for writing in

Train travel should not only be for the uber-rich. Lets all continue to support Canada’s national passenger rail system, VIA Rail Canada !!!
The average traveller if you want that tour.
For the service was not nearly comparable thanks though but my dollar and word of mouth will always stick with that tour.
And again, with no misspellings I hope, I have passed this comment on too. These are all important observations and need to be shared with the company…a value of these kinds of community, video-based exchanges. Thanks
Here too I have passed your comment on to the pr and marketing people. I’m sure they’ll be very pleased.

GREAT train ride for sure.
I suggest the lower cost trip just in case you get some bad weather conditions. You wont get that panoramic view, but you wont fell completely ripped off at the end either… =)
One problem here. And it is a BIG ONE.
If there is overcast, rain or fog, You just PAID a LOT of money for no view AT ALL.
Seriously, for LESS money than a ONE(1) day train ride ,you can go from Calgary to Dominican Republic and four(4) nights.
It is very nice, but VERY expensive for one day trip AND IF you get bad weather conditions you see NOTHING AT ALL. If you want that panoramic view, it COSTS additional.
Risky and PRICY trip here, even for a Train lover.
Amazing trip!
I travelled with VIA. It was not nearly as nice.
Beautiful!
We’re glad to bring a chuckle to your day. Keep watching our Travel Video Postcards.
“Not quite hee-haw, but close enough.”
That made me chuckle.
my son and I did the trip in 2000 and recommended to others in England who have made the same trip since
Great…I’ll pass your comment on!
My wife and I did it in 2005. It’s just unbelievable — especially to someone from Australia! Would I do it again? You betcha!
VIA is very good, no doubt. But VIA offeres a very different exxperience. Rocky is a tour train with rather special in-train, first class service. Both are great but different. Thanks for writing.
Via Rail Canada is better! These guys are a private service which thinks they OWN Canadian rails. And Via is AFFORDABLE to the avg. Canadian traveller !
